    Don’t buy this stove, December 18, 2010

    1) The low on all but one of the burners is too high. You will have to call someone in to adjust at least one other burner so you can actually cook something without it boiling way too strongly.
    2) The burner in the lower right hand corner – the one that looks fancy with a glass disc on top – is very difficult to light. In fact, this can be a problem with all the burners. I feel a real fool standing in front of my very expensive stove with a lighter in my hand lighting the burners because the self lighting just isn’t working. But this is better than having gas escaping into your kitchen and then lighting with a huge bang!!
    3) The fancy burner is very unresponsive when you turn it up or down.
    4) The knobs get hot when you use the broiler. In a lame attempt to overcome this problem, the stove beeps when you leave the door open for too long when broiling. In other words, you can’t really broil food because you have to keep the oven door closed while the broiler is on – so the food gets baked not broiled. DUMB.

Silly Design Flaws, August 9, 2010

We got this unit as a pair with an Electrolux dishwasher, which I’ve also reviewed, and has been nothing but trouble. This is a beautiful range with a lot of nice features. It is all electronically controlled, has convection, the sliding racks are great, and it feels well built. But it has one of the silliest design flaws, which I cannot believe was not detected by the engineers. The racks above the burners, the small removable rings around the burners, and the topmost part of the burners are cast iron. They look great when they are new, but once you start cleaning the unit, they rust, discoloring them and leaving rust stains on the stainless steel which you cannot get out. Its very similar to a cast iron pan which has rusted. I cannot believe that something else could not have been used. I’ve used many gas stoves, cleaning all of them the same way, and never encountered such an issue. Its really odd. Additionally, the largest burner which is hollowed out and encloses a small pilot inside, doesn’t light well. Essentially you have to run gas into it for a few seconds, filling the hollow portion with gas, before engaging the electronic igniter. The result is that when it lights, there is a large “poof” of flame which jumps out at you. My wife won’t even use this burner. So, overall its a nice unit, but these silly flaws seriously detract from it. I wouldn’t buy it again.
