Rare earth magnets are the strongest type of permanent magnet currently made. They are amazingly powerful for their size and have innumerable uses. These countersunk ring magnets are 0.500 inch (12.7mm) outside diameter, 0.150 inch (3.8mm) inside diameter and 0.125 inch (3.2mm) thick. They are magnetized through the thickness. They are composed of grade 40 neodymium iron boron magnetic material and are plated in nickel-copper-nickel for a shiny corrosion resistant finish. Their individual pull f

These magnets are great,
These magnets are much stronger than I thought they would be. Really nice. I like the countersunk feature which allows one to screw this magnet into a flat surface and maintain its flatness. I plan on using them to create a jig for setting joiner knives.

|Strong Magnets but brittle (beware),
You can have weak (magnetically) and durable magnets or strong and brittle magnets. These are the latter of the two. To get an idea of how strong these magnets are, I was doing a little test with them. I put one of these small magnets (only half inch in diameter) on the table and held another one vertically above it. I kept lowering the magnet until it was about 3″ above the one on the table when it jumped of the table and smashed into the upper one. After doing this twice, both magnets split in half from the stress. To compensate for their brittleness, you can coat the magnets in 2 part epoxy resin without losing much magnetism. Overall great magnets!

|Incredibly strong and small magnets,
I bought these to attach a steel-housed shop light to the underside of a steel shelf without having to drill holes or attach screws.
These magnets are so powerful that when you attach them, you have to slide them around to get them off. Needless to say, they do a terrific job for which I purchased them, and can be removed or shifted as my needs change.
No doubt there is a lot of other “cool” things these can do for you. Keep them away from your computer, though.
